you gotta be kidding

i grew up in mobile and the colonel dixies have always been a landmark with decent quick food at a value for the dollar.

today, i was in the old neighborhood and went to the "dixie" for some dogs.

i was horified to see the run down, beat up and neglected state of the building outside, i soon changed my mind when i went inside, i decided the outside was the better part iof the building. inside smelled of rancid grease and poop. the floors appears to have been swept last week but with the trash, food, litter it was hard to tell, the table tops were about the same. the counter for service was cluttered, filthy and a film of grease months old were visable. i looked into the kitchen area as best i could and it looked worse!.

how this place opens and operates is beyond belief, i thought we had resturant inspectors in our area, im sure we do but from the looks of this place it must be owned by his blind brother.

my freind insisted we order as she had never had a dixie dog and we got our food to go.

we ordered a dixie dog, a chilli cheese dog, a french fry and a medium coke. the tab with tax came to $13.78. i was fit to be tied. folks, we are talking about hotdogs (2) a short order of greasy fries and a coke.

good lord, they must pay their serviers and cooks very well.

all in all, i have written off the colonel dixie as a thing of the past. nostalgia, money or just love of a good dog couldnt get me back in that place..

sorry about your demise dixie..

a very dissapointed former customer
