McDuffie Terminal is one of the largest import terminals in the United States. The facility has a ground capacity of more than 2 million tons. It maintains shiploaders and ship unloaders, as well as berths. The facility also maintains barge unloaders and loaders. McDuffie Terminal is a part of the Alabama State Port Authority, which has been in operation since 1928. The Alabama State Port Authority s facility covers an area of over 3,500 acres. Its warehouse and open areas cover an area of nearly 4 Million square feet. The Alabama State Port Authority imports and exports lumber, plywood, paper, cement and chemicals, as well as aluminum, iron, steel and copper products.
