Westlawn Elementry was a great school back in its early years during the 1950's, 60's &70's. My mother taught the 5th grade there for many years. Ruth Drago who taught there was one of my Mother's best friends and they went on many trips around the world together. Mrs. Drago became a member of the Mobile County School Board and served as President, if I remember correctly. My Father planted many pine trees in the new Westlawn yard when it first opened. He was the Forester for the Mobile County school lands. His office was in the old Barton Academy School Building on Government Street.

I hope that the Teachers & Students of Westlawn understand what a rich history the school has and they will strive to live up to the high standards set forth by those teachers & students who helped to make Westlawn Elementry such a fine school of learning.

This school reflects its leader, a ghetto ratchet principal who does not care about the students, she has no respect for the parents just pitiful!!!
