The first Waffle House restaurant was opened on Labor Day in 1955 in Avondale Estates, Ga. Since then, it has grown into a chain of more than 1,500 company and franchise-owned casual restaurants in over 25 U.S. states. It serves a variety of waffles, steaks, omelets, hamburgers, country ham, pork chops and grits. The restaurant serves specialty dishes, such as Bert's chili, Walt s soup, Alice s iced tea and Lib's patty melt. It offers hash browns in eight different ways. Waffle House serves more than 3 million pounds of grits each year and over 10,000 T-bone steaks each day. Apart from serving food, the restaurant supports various health and human service organizations, youth and education programs, and disadvantage and other civic causes. It conducts in-house events and programs, such as The Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-off and the Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship.

.I use to stop by when I would visit Mobile. Now that I'm a resident not as much as I would like. My usual is the two eggs cooked to order with hash browns, large order of bacon, biscuit, and of course coffee. Once an awhile I would go with a waffle, sausage (large order), and coffee. I was concerned with the other review but sometimes things are overlooked. I assume this is an exception than the norm.

NASTY

I WENT IN THERE ON 2/2/2010 @ 7 PM. MY GIRLS ORDERD WAFFLES. MY CHILD POINTED OUT TO ME A ROACHE ON THE WALL. I LET MY WAITER KNOW AND SHE SAID OK, BUT DID NOTHING. WE GOT OUR WAFFLES OND THERE WAS A ROACH BAKED ON TOP OF MY DAUGHTERS WAFFLE .I TOLD OUR WAITRESS AND SHE SAID THAT IT WAS PECANS .I TOLD HER THAT WAS NO PECAN THAT WAS A ROACH. I PAYED FOR OUR FOOD AND WALKED OUT. LOOK AT YOUR FOOD GOOD BEFOR YOU EAT IT!!!!!!
