Provided by YP.comMy wife and I recently attended several Tae Kwon Do sessions, where people of all backgrounds and races were in attendance and participated. It was an inspiring view of sight and sound, demonstrating, in our opinion, the combination of civility, strength, dignity and a display of the use of martial arts not for offensive means but in enhancing health and physical well being as well as strengthening and disciplining one's mind.
We feel that any person, regardless of age, would benefit substantially in undertaking this type of mental and physical training. We rate it in excess of five stars. Jim and Mary Mavridis
Thank you for your kind words. I am honored that you found the program exciting and powerful.

Provided by YP.comI recently visited the Mid California Taekwon-Do center and participated in a variety of events. With an extensive background in martial arts for over 38 years and being a concerned parent I can give you a sincere review that is not only positive but endorsing. I found the staff and facility to be very professional. As a parent I would enroll my children within this school for their physical and character development. The friendly attitude is well balanced with a solid understanding of teaching the principals of traditional Taekwon-Do. In addition, Dr. McCain has a serious background in law enforcement that brings a reality based street presence to his self defense training. But I think the best part of being a student there is how they make you feel good about your training and the relationships that go with it. Keep up the good work and thank you for allowing me to visit.
Warm Regards,
Grand Master S. McNeely
Ninth Degree Black Belt
Chairman, United States Taekwon-Do Foundation
Thank you for your kind words. It was a privilege to have you at MCTKD for an extended visit. Dr.D

Provided by YP.comWhen I jumped and caught my opponent in the back of his head with a flying round kick, not only did I score extra points in our sparring match but I totally surprized myself! Never did I think I could pull-off a move like that. Ever since my son and I began taking classes over three years ago we have both developed greater strength, agility and speed, combined with the self-control necessary to enjoy martial arts without serious injury. Our instructors, Dr. McCain and Ms. Schwartz are both highly skilled in the art of taewkando and not only detailed but very patient in their training. Not once in all my hours of instruction have I seen them lose patience with a student. Their great sense of humor and affirming nature sets their students at ease while constantly challenging them to strive toward higher levels of achievement. We are also honored to be part of a school where the students want to see each other succeed. We sparr fiercely, only to end most of our matches with a friendly embrace, thankful for the chance to improve on each other's technique. I and my son are both very thankful to the Lord for this school and for our instructors who have also become close friends.
Thank you for your evaluation and input into the program. I am thankful that we have such a high caliber of student, as yourself, as part of MCTKD. Dr.D

Provided by YP.comThis is the second time I have reviewed this business and I was highly disappointed to find my first review was removed. The first time I reviewed this busines I gave it a two star rating - fair- because when I attended this school I felt discouraged in my martial arts intstead of encouraged. I decided to change schools and found a school where I excelled and was judged based on my own abilities rather the the abilities of those around me. I do hope this review is not removed like the other one, where is the integrity in that? Integrity is after all the second tenant of Taekwondo.
Your previous review was removed by Yellowpages.com because it violated THEIR abuse policy. It was never a matter of integrity. However, we always accept constructive evaluations when presented in person, following biblical guidelines. Thank you for your input. You may wish to make this issue in your life a matter of personal prayer.

Provided by YP.comI began learning TKD with Dr. McCain in Ducor, CA in 1992, and continued studying under him and others until 1998. The discipline Dr. McCain instilled in me and his other students proved far more valuable than I could have expected at the time. It taught me important principles such as "courtesy, integrity, perserverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit". Now I am in the Marine Corps and continually follow these tenets which have contributed greatly to success. Dr. McCain not only teaches and encourages his students, but he is not afraid to challenge people beyond their own perceived limitations. Anyone who is willing to listen and work hard will receive rewards that will stay with them throughout their life.

Provided by YP.comMy name is Brad Whitlow and I am an 8th Degree Black Belt in the art of Taekwondo. I have known Dr. McCain for 20 years & Mrs. Schwartz for over 15 years, and visited their school many times to instruct seminars. I have always been impressed with their level of professionalism and their genuine kindness. They work diligently with each student to help them reach their full potential. I have had the opportunity to visit hundreds of schools all over the world and I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for exemplary instruction and leadership skills that are priceless in this world today.

Provided by YP.comIf you are looking for a place where you can learn a serious martial art for self-defense training, fitness and character-building in an environment that is both friendly and safe, this is it! Dr. McCain and Ms. Schwartz are the senior instructors and are both very experienced and patient with all levels of student abilities. Dr McCain is a former L.A. Deputy Sheriff and includes hand-to-hand combat training, based on his real-world experiences, as part of the program. Another aspect of training at Mid California Tae Kwon Do is the emphasis on character-building and spiritual growth from a Biblical point of view. When I was first considering joining Mid California TKD and as a conservative Christian, I was concerned about Eastern mysticism and religions being taught, because they are an integral part of many forms of martial arts, however those things are not a part of Mid California TKD. Dr. McCain is a man of God and his school reflects that godliness.
My son and I joined Mid California Tae Kwon Do several years ago and have both achieved the rank of Second Degree Black Belt (a level I never dreamed I would be able to attain when we started!). We have both benefitted greatly in so many ways - I feel I am a better person - because of both the training in Tae Kwon Do and friendships with instructors and other students that we have made over the years.
Thank you for the good reveiw. Your friendship and faithfulness has been a personal blessing to me.

Provided by YP.comJoined with my daughter to build her confidence. Not only did that happen in 3 months - but to see her delight at each practice and excited on her new patterns. Priceless.I, however thank the instructors and other students in their patients and friendliness, with me and my daugther. Thank you Ms. Schwartz and Dr. McCain - sharing your knowledge in the art. We look forward to the next lesson!
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. We look forward to many more years of service to your family.

Provided by YP.comMy kids started at MCTKD over 5 years ago. While they have been physically challenged they have also been spiritually encouraged. Dr. McCain has taught them perseverance and respect. I believe their characters have been positively influenced because of this class. Dr. McCain truly cares for his students and this is very important to me.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. We look forward to many more years of service to your family.

Provided by YP.comContrary to the supposed definition of discipline, it is not punishment, but the instilling of work ethic and habit of perseverance. This discipline is most effectively cultivated in a person by the encouragement of patient reminders and recognized achievement. The instructors at Mid-California Tae Kwon Do see each student as a unique personality with different abilities, and help each one at his own pace to reach his potential. But you should see them all moving together as one class!
The martial arts experience of the chief instructor Dr. McCain spans four decades, including practical application as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy. The hand-to-hand combat sequences are eye-openers.
This taekwondo has been taught by Dr. McCain and his students in the San Joaquin Valley continuously for the last 16 years.Eleven of those years have been in Modesto. It is this commitment to taekwondo students, their families and the program that has made Mid-California Taekwondo a solid establishment.
My youngster earned his black belt from Mid-California Tae Kwon Do in 1994. As a Marine Platoon Sergeant in the 21st century he used his taekwondo training in teaching hand-to-hand combat to his men.
This is of value, certainly, but the real value is that the ability to fight and defend oneself is balanced by an attitude of compassion and caring one for another. That is the environment created by the instructor.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

Provided by YP.comDr. McCain's love for children and his strong belief in developing each one's potential, not only physically, but in character qualities, is evident in his interaction with each student. The encouragement for entire families to participate emphasizes his desire to see those families strengthened. It is a real joy to see grandparents, fathers and mothers supporting their youngsters' achievements and, in many cases, working alongside them. I am especially impressed with the extension of this desire for individual excellence in his work with those with challenge issues, including physical handicaps. Each individual regardless of age is treated with respect and a confidence in their ability to be the best they can be in all areas of life. The teens in the school are a real testimony to mutual encouragement of each other and students of all ages, young and old. This philosophy carries over to all the instructors so that the school always represents the values set for it at all times. It is a joy to watch. Mrs. M

Provided by YP.comBoth my husband and grandson wanted to get involved in a martial arts program about 3+ years ago.
SO we set out to find "the right" place for them to go.
They first attended a different Martail Arts place, but it just didn't feel right. The Instructor did not seem professional nor did it serve the other purpose that we were looking for. The spiritual one.
MCTKD (Mid Cal Tae Kwon Do) is SO different.
The people there are wonderful..... From the youngest student willing nad eager to learn all the way to the head Instructor, Dr. McCain...
My two guys have been there over a year now and it is just GREAT!!
They both participated in their first tournament just a couple of weeks ago, and it was such a blast....
If you are looking for a Martial Arts place that is safe, fun, and warm this is the RIGHT place for you and your family to be.
My husband should have his Black Belt in a few months, and our grandson is on his way to his Blue Belt..
This is TRULY a place where the whole family can enjoy, learn, and spend some time together learning something fun and interesting.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.
