The Chartreuse Muse opened its doors as a contemporary gallery in Modesto in 2002. In September of 2007 Muse moved to its new location at 918 10th Street, right across from the Gallo Center and into the heart of downtown Modesto. The Muse offers works in a wide range of media from talented regional artists. Whether your interest is painting, ceramics, glasswork, photography, metalwork, or handcrafted jewelry, you'll find unique artwork with a modern sensibility at The Muse. The Chartreuse Muse is also an Art School. Muse teachers as well as visiting guest artists offer a curriculum to suit all interests, for students from pre-school through adult age. All skill levels are welcome. Click on Art School at left for information about current course offerings. Sandra Veneman and Ellen Roehne are the co-owners of The Chartreuse Muse. Both are talented artists in their own right as well as art teachers. You can meet Sandra and Ellen every Third Thursday at the downtown Art Walk.
