Did a great job. I didn't worry about being taken advantage of. I was called after the job was diagnosed so I could approve the repairs, and the job was done in the time frame promised. Will definitely bring my vehicle back.

After I checked out all of these rave reviews I knew I had to take my care to Ken at Transmatic. I live about 30 minutes from Ken's shop and I have a ton of local repair shops that I could go to. But I've been burned by shops before and a lot of them don't stand by their work. I was starting to think there weren't any more honest businesses around. Needless to say, I'm EXTREMELY skeptical when it comes to most mechanics. But guess what guys and gals? Transmatic Transmission and Automotive is the real deal! I had a faulty sensor and some brake work that needed to get done and Ken had me in and out same day. The thing that really impressed me about Ken was his attention to detail and his passion for what he does. Ken and his staff have won me over and I hope they can win you over as well. If anything, give this place a chance. At least just once. Ken knows that you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Transmatic has a customer for life!

I have a 1998 Chevy Astro van with ove 250,000 miles on it. I prefer to do my own work if it's within my knowledge and tool capabilities. I have worked on cars since I was 15, spent a summer at my uncle's collision and salvage shop, and fully understand most automotive systems. I am pretty aware of what makes a shop "good".



Back in August, I needed my AC compressor and other related components replaced. Two years ago when I was in the engine bay replacing a failed intake manifold gasket, I noticed that the oil-fill tube support tab had failed due to metal fatigue after 200kmi of vibration. The oil-fill tube runs right above the compressor and into the left side of the engine. At the time I didn't have a welder to tack it back into place, so I did the next best thing and zip-tied it in place as it's not a structural or stressed component.



Here's the cool part of the story and why I strongly recommend Ken as your chosen mechanic:



While he was replacing the AC compressor, he took the time to remove my jury-rigged, zip-tied oil-fill tube and TIG-welded its mounting tab back in place. No request from me. He just did it because he found something that wasn't completely right and took the five or so minutes to lay a 1/h inch weld bead to keep my van running tight and rattle-free. Was my work functional? Yes. Did he have to repair my work? No, he could have simply replaced the Zip-tie on his way to finishing the job.



Most shops run on fixed-fee invoicing with time and materials being the variables in profitability. The faster and more cheaply the job can be done, the more profitable the operation. Taking extra time can backfire and quickly erode profitablity.



Ken operates on doing the job right as the designers intended with outstanding attention to detail. Quality work like this ensures that no matter the economy, Ken will always have a loyal following from people who know good work. The local CHP motor pool and other LE agencies know of Ken's work ethic and know so do I.

I have too many shops and there's nothing better than this 1it's very hard to find a shop that you know you can trust .

I take all my cars to Ken. Was referred to him through a neighbor, he is well worth the 35 minute drive to get to. Extremely honest, and fair. Never repairs anything that doesn't need repaired. He is fast and really knows his stuff. You will NEVER have to worry about getting ripped off by Ken or this establishment, they are one of the few honest businesses left. Highly recommend!

This repair shop is the most honest of all in Modesto. They do excellent repair work on everything at a fair price and stand behind their work 100%. I take all my vehicles to Ken, my kids take all their vehicles to Ken, and so do my parents since he has been in business. I had to take a last minute trip to L.A. and Ken got my Suburban in and out the same day I called. It's nice to know there is a least one shop in Modesto you can trust not to rip you off on prices or not needed repairs.

I thought he only worked on transmitions. No he put four brakes and later a wheel bearing. It was the best service and affordable I have had in Modesto.

I have a civic hybrid and when i found out honda doesnt repair their transmissions and only replaces them i was in a bind. Called Transmatic and they repaired my vehicle in no time and saved some major cash. They are very professional! They just got a new long time customer.

With all the automotive shops out there, I didn't know who to go to or who to trust. I really didn't want to take my vehicle to a dealer because of the high cost and lack of personal service. Fortunately, a friend recommended this shop, Transmatic Transmission and Automotive Repair.

The first time there, I had a positive experience. They diagnosed my mechanical problem in a timely manner and repaired it at a reasonable cost. Most of all, I was treated well. As a person that doesn't know much about cars, I felt that they were honest and sincere. They explained the problem in terms that I could understand and it all made sense. I continue to take all my vehicles here for routine maintenance and repairs. I know that I can trust them and that they will always do the right thing. I have never had any issues but if I ever did, I am confident that they would resolve the issue without any problems. I also feel comfortable sending my wife here because I know that she would be treated well and would not be taken advantage of. I have built a good business rapport with the owner and mechanic and it is very comforting having an Automotive Shop that I can trust!

Great work, very reliable, trustworthy, and always there for you. You couldnt ask for a better business and the people that work there are very polite and caring. Communication is excellent. If your looking for good reliable service for your car, this is the place to go!

Your years of servicing Law Enforcement vehicles was the reason I started using your shop for all my vehicle needs. The most important thing to a Law Enforcement Officer is the trust in who is servicing the Patrol car he is driving.

Being a single mom its hard to find an automotive repair shop that I can trust to fix my car honestly. I was actually referred to Transmatic from a specialty shop who said he was honest. So I tried them out. Not only did they know how to fix my car, they also explained it to me so I would understand what was going on with it. They even took me to see the problem with my own eyes. It was sure nice to actually be able to see how bad the problem was. They are not out to get your money either. They will tell you if a problem is not worth fixing or how long it may last. They also have a great warranty longer than most other shops. Iv never felt taken advantage of from Transmatic, and they never try to sell me stuff I don't need. I have been coming here ever since and a lot of my family, and friends come here now too. I no longer live in fear of a shop trying to over charge me for parts and repairs I don't need.

I learned about Ken's Transmatic shop from alot of my law enforcement friends. When I took my truck to the shop, I learned why. Ken had a CHP car and an Oakdale patrol car there. If he is trusted to do their work, I felt I could trust him to do mine. Ken repaired my 2004 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton. The serpentine belt and water pump needed replacement. Ken was a no nonsense guy. He didn't try to sell me more than what I needed. And my truck was ready in a day. Ken even let me borrow the shop truck while I waited.

Bottom line: I've referred a few people to Ken, and all of them are still my friends.

My GMC Denali was leaking fluid and had an obnoxious rattle underneath, somewhere. Ken not only found my leak problem, a completely messed up water pump, but he found my rattle. My husband said it was all in my head. HA! Anyway, fast, same day repair, affordable, and done right. Thank goodness. I shuttle 4 kids around and need reliable repair. Thanks, Ken.

I have a 2002 Saab that had an extended non-manufacturer warranty. Transmatic did all the warranty work and the great front office took care of all the billing and logistics with the warranty company. All I had to do was sign the paperwork. They replaced my transmission, engine mounts, shocks, struts, springs and took care of some electrical issues. The owner drove to Sacramento to pick up the transmission from the Saab dealer. They performed all the work and had my vehicle done in 3 days. I've never had any issues with the work they performed. I highly recommend Transmatic for all you mechanical needs.

Being an owner of several Volvos, I am very particular about where I take my cars for repairs and service (yes, Volvos do need repairs sometimes) Anyway, I have been to all the "Volvo Repair Places" and although I have had stellar service by all, Ken at Transmatic Transmission never steers you wrong or trys to sell you something you don't need. He is soooooo fair on his pricing that it makes one wonder why everyone doesn't go to Ken's place. I have reccommended many friends there, from Corvette to Toyota owners and all have been thrilled and now call Transmatic Transmission "their auto repair home". A little hard to find, but worth the hunt.

I took my acura in, not sure of what the problem was, the staff was immediately able to determine the problem and was able to get it resolved in a quick & efficient manner. They even gave me a ride home while my car was being repaired and picked me up which saved me the hassle of finding a ride. Will not choose to go anywhere else for my cars' needs.

I went into Transmatic Transmission fro the first time and would not choose to anywhere else! The staff was friendly and got my car out on time as promised. I didnt have to bring my car back w/ further issues like i have had to in the past w/ other places.
