Founded in 2001 by a merger between Post Falls Fire Department and Kootenai Fire Protective District #1, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue is one of the largest full-service fire districts in Idaho. It employs more than100 career and volunteer personnel who provide a range of emergency and support services. The district offers structural and wildland fire suppression, extrication, rescue and ambulance transport services. It manages a prevention bureau that provides public education, subdivision review, alarm and sprinkler testing, building and fire inspections, code compliance and arson investigation services. The district operates several fire stations that serve more than 14,000 residents living in an area of over 113 square miles. Kootenai County Fire & Rescue is located in Post Falls, Idaho.
