My husband and I bought a used car from Cole's in late 2010. They said it was extremely reliable and they knew the previous owner personally... though it was from 1995. We felt like we were getting a good deal because we wanted to pay cash. $4k with all the taxes and fees... which took us forever to save up.

Long story short, the Check Engine light came on within 3 days of driving it. I brought it back in and they said it was "no big deal". That light is for "suckers" so they pay mechanics.

After 3 weeks of driving this "reliable" car, it wouldn't even START when we tried to drive it to work. I asked a mechanic who said totally "got taken" and they shouldn't have sold it to us.

We tried to deal with them to take it back or buy a different car instead, but they weren't having any of it. They set themselves up to be a family business, but believe me, they don't care about you... just the cash you bring in the door.



Ended up selling the stupid thing to Carmax for $1,600. Lesson learned, buy your cars at Carmax!
