The Division of Levee District Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that serves and protects citizens and maintains law and order. It conducts accident investigation and enforces criminal, environmental, marine safety, narcotics, traffic and wildlife laws. The department has a special response team that provides emergency response during high-risk situations. The Division of Levee District Police recovers stolen weapons, examines firearms for identification numbers and photographs crime scenes. It offers permits for illegal commercial directional drilling operations and special events. The department organizes training programs in hazardous materials, stress management, field survival, first aid, juvenile matters, crime scene and arson investigation, fire fighting, narcotics, patrol and hostage negotiations.
