If your looking for a NURSING HOME this is NOT the place. If you want an assisted living facility then they are EXCELLENT. They are great at helping my mom, keep her room clean, check her vitals, give her medications, WONDERFUL FOOD 3X a DAY, lots of activities, great piano music daily, Director even comes on weekends to check on things!!!!, adorable facility bird in lobby to entertain residents, (marketing had a loan person named Bobbie when we moved our mom in back in the spring and she was the most caring person I have ever met at this type of place), staff are very considerate and caring, lovely clean facility and they keep moms room clean plus laundry keep up. THE ONLY negative thing I can remotely think of is that it is extremely hard to get someone on the phone. Seems like it goes to voice mail a little too much. When I first contacted Union Park about my Mother’s care I was assured they could do all I told them was required and care for her until the end of life with hospice’s help. Within a week, most of the care I requested was not being done. She needed help with eating, which I was assured by their salesperson could be done “hand over hand”. Later I was told by the new Director that they “would not” do that. They did not have the staff. They did not even have the staff to stay with her and encourage her to eat. As a result, we spent most every day there making sure she ate. She still lost 20 lbs. in two months and then passed away. The Director was right, they did not have the staff to even check on my Mother every two hours to see if she needed to go to the bathroom. The Staff themselves from Nurses to CA’s and all of them do a great job with what they are asked to do. They are friendly and compassionate and went beyond what their job directed to try and help my Mother. Just beware what services are sold to you and what you expect.
