I was very disappointed with my last visit to the Monroe branch library. While checking out, I was informed that I owed a $14 fee for a damaged book from back in June. I questioned what the damage to the book was and why I was never notified via telephone or email of the damage. I asked to see the damaged book, and the clerk was unable to show me what I was being charged $14 for. There was no record of anyone from the library contacting me about the damage. I was told I had to pay the fee or I could not use my library card again. I will not be returning to this branch. Unacceptable!

I am appalled at the disrespect I just received from this library staff! If I could contact someone other than writing a review I absolutely would! I have a 20 month old and a newly turned three year old and I was expected to leave immediately because my 20 month old was being a typical 20 month old! FYI, don't have a children's area ladies if you can't handle any type of noise! I will NEVER go back to this library and I will make sure others know how very unprofessional these ladies were along with their great inability to be helpful!! The rudest most embarrassing experience I've ever had to deal with!!

Not Kid Friendly

I sat in the teenage section while my child looked for books. She came back to me after choosing each book. She told me she was going to ask a librarian for help in finding a book and I thought this would be a good learning experience. Mistake, the librarian helped her but then told her even though I was sitting in the adjacent area she would have to have me with her since she was only 8 (10 required). When I asked the librarian about it she explained with a straight face that it was because of fears of child abductions. This fear didn’t happen during the first hour my child looked for a book it popped up when she asked the librarian for help.
