For 30 years, the Big Sur Land Trust has worked passionately to protect the natural, recreational, and scenic values of Monterey County. Our mission is clear: To conserve the significant lands and waters of California's Central Coast for all generations. Working with private and public partners, The Big Sur Land Trust has successfully conserved more than 30, 000 acres of shoreline, wildlife habitat, streams, forests, grasslands, rangelands and riparian corridors. Generous members and donors who support the Land Trust's efforts are ensuring that thousands of acres of trails, beaches, woodlands, pastures and forests are protected today to be enjoyed by future generations. Under its current leadership, The Big Sur Land Trust has expanded its scope and impact by introducing innovative approaches to conservation work and by developing a wide network of community partners to engage in these efforts. Our County's communities interact with and connect to our region's lands and waters in many different ways as hikers and ranchers, children and property owners, as field workers, campers, farmers and researchers and our goal and commitment at the Land Trust is to pursue resource conservation that supports the well-being of land and people and sustains our region's unique quality of life for us all.
