I had been encouraging a colleague as he struggled with what seemed to be severe depression and anxiety - medication didn't seem to help, I began to fear that he would commit suicide because nothing seemed to help and he was physically exhausted with darkening circles under his eyes. I kept saying he had to try another therapist - SOMEONE must be able to help him. He called our company insurance plan and 'made' them tell him who was 'best' in their service. At first they said they didn't know what he meant, didn't have that info, etc. He growled into the phone "You DO know..." He persisted and they gave him a name. Dr. Forrest. In about 3 weeks - he was stable and improving. He said "I still have my problems but now I also have my life."

I thought this was so miraculous that I made an appt. I had been helped by a nice therapist before and stopped going when I felt all that therapy could do for me had been done but I hoped perhaps I could get a little more improvement. Wow! Is she ever great. I had hoped for 'a little improvement' but my quality of life has been transformed. She managed to help me learn so much that was there all along but my other counselor was not able to perceive. ( he was great but they all have their own specialties etc.) She is capable of greater depth and perception. She focuses on positive living for today while you work on your issues - not waiting for some future date before you see any improvement. She teaches you to focus on quality of life in all that you do, the people you interact with, your own little corner of the world etc.

She practices what she teaches - you can see signs of the proactive effort she expends in creating a positive life for herself and that is very motivating. She also has patients whom she treats for chronic pain - something else she applies to her own life as she has and continues to dealt with chronic pain herself. I had been seeing her a year before I realized that she had chronic pain - she seems to sparkle with happiness - so I never guessed that her quality of life is something she has crafted for herself; she is so encouraging.
