Alabama Board of Cosmetology is a governing body that frames rules and regulations on all phases necessary to produce competent practitioners in the field of medicine, surgery, dentistry, chiropody, osteopathy, chiropractic and massage. The board also frame guidelines for approved seminars of continuing education. It consists of seven persons appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The board issues licenses to salons and shops for a fee, as well as to cosmetologist, esthetician and manicurist apprentice, cosmetology instructor, demonstrator, esthetician, esthetics instructor, manicurist, and student cosmetologist, esthetician, instructor and manicurist. Alabama Board of Cosmetology is located in Montgomery, Ala.
