This particular Dollar General is very convenient for me. It's just over half a mile from my house. I "run down to DG" pretty often. The store is good. The customer service is not good! I left there yesterday fairly convinced that either that particular manager or Dollar General as a whole teaches their cashiers & associates the antithesis of good customer service. They absolutely will not pick up your bags and hand them to you. Half the time they won't even turn the carousel around so your bags are where YOU can get them. And you can walk out of there with only part of your purchases because they seldom bother to make sure you have everything. Occasionally someone will greet you when you walk in the door, but don't expect it. Fewer than half of them are friendly, bother to smile, or in any way make you feel you're valued as a customer. Several of them act as though they're going out of their way to help you with something or get you checked out. These people are supposed to be trained in customer service! But as I said, I believe they're trained in exactly the opposite. Very seldom do I leave there smiling because someone was pleasant, wished me a good day, thanked me for my business, or smiled at me. Frankly, I could do a better job training them to handle their customer service positions. Someone certainly needs to.
