We have a water leak at home, so I ran to Waffle House at the Mall to get us something to eat. Living in Bean Station, it’s nearer to go to this Waffle House than the one on the west end.I tried calling but message said they don’t do call in to go orders. So when I got there this red head was rushing around and seemed rather flighty. As my Mama would’ve said, it appeared she was “probably on something.”
I waited for her to check out two customers at the register, and a young man was sitting at the counter next to the register with his bill and card, so I told her she could go ahead and check him out as I wanted to place a to go order…which was going to be 2 breakfast bowls and a bowl of grits.
I smiled at them and said I usually do at least one good deed a day, so he could be my good deed. He didn’t seem to take the remark in the spirit with which it was given, but anyway.
When she finished processing his payment, he bid us a good blessed day and left. She then looked at me and said, “I don’t have time to take your to go order right now. So you’ll have to wait a few mins.” Really???
I left, drove to the west end Waffle House where I was greeted by friendly voices and smiling faces. The cook was a little lady at least my age. The other ladies in there were sweet and kind, and seemed to realize their job was one not to be taken lightly. Great customer service. Made me feel they appreciated serving me.
Customer service was once a sought after quality in the labor force…not so today. Too many ppl in the world, and too many with no peace. They need Jesus!
If you don’t believe me, visit the Eastside Waffle House. They really need a good dose of customer service skills teaching. I won’t be back.
