Flat Rock Elementary School, a part of Surry County Schools, offers academic classes in a variety of subjects, such as English, math, reading, basic skills and social studies. In addition, it conducts classes in media, physical education, computers, music, art and guidance. Flat Rock Elementary School has a staff of more than 50 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals. It organizes the English Language Learners program, as well as special classes for academically and intellectually gifted children. Additionally, the school supports drug awareness and accelerated reader programs. Located in Mount Airy, N.C., Flat Rock Elementary School is a prekindergarten through fifth grade school that provides educational programs to approximately 360 students.
