I had some funny transmission issues with my car, and I was from out of town so I called AAA. They sent All About Auto to come tow my car. The All About Automotive truck arrived about an hour later than expected. 2 hour total wait time. I originally wanted the car towed to a dealership, but the tow truck driver suggested that I take my car to them since they have a full service garage, not to mention their prices would be much lower than the dealership. I agreed. They called a few days later and told me I needed a new transmission. They quoted $2,600. I said I'd just pick the car up and fix it when I had a chance. The next day the owner called me and told me I must have heard wrong. He quoted me $1,600. I held my ground and had them tow it to a buddy's place. I finally got a chance to check the car out myself. It was a bad transmission cable. The cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission. I bought one for $60 and installed it myself, in about an hour. The transmission is perfect. I ended up paying them $200 for diagnosis and the tow to take it out of there.



TLDR: They wanted to replace my entire transmission for $1,600, even though the transmission was fine. The actual problem was a shifter cable that only cost me $60, and one hour of my time.
