Provided by YP.comI have been coming here since 1997 and am a transplant from Alaska.
This place provides year round recreation. The water in Anderson Ranch Reservoir is clean and warm...around 75° in the summer, and on a 100° day it is wonderful. The reservoir is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing. You think of it, you can do it! There are over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Area 20, which connect to more groomed trail systems. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing are just a few winter activities to do in the area. There are also extensive trail systems for motorcycle riding, ATV and UTV riding, horseback riding, and hiking.
The area can be accessed at least 3 different ways. 1) Fall Creek Road. This road runs along the reservoir about 8 miles to the resort (and beyond the resort). It is a dirt road with no guardrails and fairly narrow in some spots. I always take the corners slow and stay on my side as much as possible and have never had an accident (I have traveled the road a lot over the years). 2) Lester Creek or Lake Creek Roads. These roads can be accessed from Pine. They are also dirt roads with no guardrails, they are a little wider, and do not follow the reservoir as much. 3) Meadow Creek Road. This road is accessible from Prairie and runs into Fall Creek Road. It too is a dirt road.
Camping is by the day and not by the night. The reason for this is to ensure the camp spot is vacant when campers come in when reserved, which I can appreciate. Reservations are recommended and encouraged. There are campsites with RV hookups and campsites without hookups. The campsites along the reservoir are on a hillside, however; the campsite is leveled. The campsites are close together. There is camping in the area that is FREE and more spacious if that is what you are looking for. Evans Creek Campground, Castle Creek Campground, and Ice Springs Campground are managed by the Forest Service and are free campsites. Evans Creek and Castle Creek campgrounds are along the reservoir past the damn when coming into Fall Creek. Ice Springs Campground is about 5 miles north of Fall Creek Resort on Fall Creek Road.
The resort is open year round. We have snowmobiled in, stayed the weekend, played in the snow to our hearts content, and returned to the resort for a hot meal and warm lodge. We have always been able to get a hot meal at the restaurant.
The resort is under new management and several changes have already been made. There is new patio furniture on the deck, there is no smoking in the lodge, new sheets and towels in the hotel rooms, plants planted, hours of operation have expanded, and lighting changes. Paddleboards, kayaks, and peddle boats are available for rent.
I just had a family reunion in July at the resort. Everyone loved it and are wanting to come back.
