Southwest Iowa REC is a nonprofit distribution cooperative that operates under the laws of the State of Iowa. The cooperative provides energy audits, energy efficiency programs, security lights and surge protectors among others. It purchases its power requirements from Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO). In addition, Southwest Iowa REC is a part of the Touchstone Energy Cooperative, a program being used by electric cooperatives across the United States to help distinguish themselves as preferred providers in the electric utility marketplace. The cooperative is also a member of the Iowa One Call System.
