He received his medical degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in New York on Long Island, where he acted as the chief resident of his program. He completed his pre-medical studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
