Rural paramedics & other emergency workers save lives across northern Michigan

Paramedics, EMTs and first responders who serve rural Alger County in northern Michigan are dedicated to saving the lives of strangers and friends.

Often these paramedics and other emergency medical workers know the people they are helping - and many times it's in a remote area over an hour from the Upper Peninsula's shock trauma care facility - and that means setting aside feelings and doing the best possible job because they are the front lines between life and death.

Tourists and other visitors to the rural Upper Peninsula have been saved by these emergency professionals.

They revive, stabilize and comfort patients who are in for a long ride to doctors and - if needed - sugery.

All rural emergency workers serve as a lifeline between the public and modern medical facilities located a long distance from the scene of the incident.

I have witnessed these rural ambulance volunteers working hard to help their patients.

Kudos to all these paramedics, EMTs and first responders.
