NorthWest Indiana Bancorp owns and operates what is now Peoples Bank, which was established in 1910 to meet the needs of consumers throughout Indiana. Banks at that time were primarily interested in making consumer or commercial loans, not home loans. The association, originally called The First Polish National Building & Loan Association, was the center of church and social activities in East Chicago, Ind. The banks offer a variety of services that include personal banking options, such as checking accounts, savings accounts, individual retirement accounts, certificates of deposit, consumer Internet banking and savings bonds; business banking options, such as checking accounts, cash management, money markets, lending products, business Internet banking and small business lending; trust and investment services that include investment management, estate planning, retirement planning and trust services; and lending services for automobiles, homes, lots, bridges and home improvements. Peoples Bank has a branch location in Munster, Ind.

Just refinanced with People's Bank. Horrible experience. Veeeeeery long and frustrating process. Was given a letter stating I could have a low interest rate, ended up with a higher rate. The letter was sent out "as a mistake." Nobody even bothered to try to get me that lower rate that was promised. Also, I was promised money back at closing. Instead, I had to pay quite a bit. They tell you one thing over the phone, but in reality, they are NOT even close to keeping their promises. Definitely need to rename this bank. The customers are not the priority.
