I actually live in a duplex owned by Oakland Properties, not the actual apartments. But I would like to tell anyone interested in renting from them, DON'T. My roommates and I were robbed, the back door broken down, and lost a bunch of stuff. Our back door was broken and could not lock, so we put our couch in front of it and called the landlord. I had to leave a message, and the next day they called back. They told us they would send someone from maintenance to look at it. When we hadn't heard from anyone in a few days, I called back and was told again that someone would be out to fix it. They were waiting for the weather to improve. We played phone tag for over two weeks, back door still broken. As a house full of only women, none of us felt safe in the least. Our safety was clearly of no concern to them. Then, our kitchen sink backed up into the dishwasher and flooded the kitchen. We couldn't cook, hand wash dishes, or use the dishwasher. Broken door and broken sink. So I called and was told that when the weather was better they would send someone. It took my roommate calling about it the same day to get them to agree to FINALLY get out and fix our door and sink. We chose to leave the couch in front of the door for comfort and safety reasons, as we are not satisfied with the door 'repairs'. About two weeks later, the sink broke and nearly flooded again, so I called again and they sent someone a few days later. After not being able to use the better half of our downstairs for most of the month, you'd think the landlord would be a little more lenient when I couldn't bring my rent check ON MY BIRTHDAY, but they charged a $50 late fee anyway. When I brought this complaint to their attention, they completely disregarded it.

So, unless you can go weeks without a back door (which is a fire-safety hazard by the way) or a kitchen sink, I don't recommend you living here. But hey, you can always wash your dishes in the bathroom.
