Murphy Middle School serves more than 350 students in grades six through eight. It conducts classes in literature, keyboarding, language arts, math, science and social studies. The school also offers elective courses in journalism and music and organizes life skills development classes for children with special needs. Murphy Middle School additionally organizes field trips, intramurals and sports competitions. Its media center features more than 7,200 books, such as encyclopedias, periodicals and dictionaries. The school also operates a parent-teacher association and beta and shooting clubs. Located in Murphy, N.C., Murphy Middle School is a part of the Cherokee County School District, which operates more than 10 elementary, middle and high schools.
