I tried Cindy B's for the first time last week, and it was GREAT. We had the salisbury steak, with green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans were awesome...they were seasoned perfectly and tasted like homemade. I didn't ask if they were, but they sure didn't taste like the canned ones you get in other places. We went back yesterday and had the salmon patties with mashed potatoes and baked beans. Again, everything was fantastic. They give you VERY generous helpings, and everyone is really friendly. We also had pie...chocolate and pecan. (I had mine with ice cream) The slices of pie were large, and the crust was buttery and flaky...AWESOME. Very good food, service, and prices. I live in Herrin and would definitely drive there just for lunch or dinner. Definitely five stars!!!

If you like those home cooking cafes from the near past, this is a winner. Plain but clean decor, friendly prompt service, full plates and very reasonable prices. We were going to Tippy's but it was closed, and found this place over by the Post Office just off the center of town. The specials were liver and onions or salmon patties with two sides for about six bucks. There was a full menu if those specials were not your fare. Food was tasty and well prepared, flowing over the plate. Their cole slaw was just right, not soupy or overspiced. Desserts tasted home made but I didn't ask. I will return next time I am in Murphysboro. Beats the heck out of fast food.
