Wanted to take my dad to get some good BBQ while in town so I asked someone in the nursing home he resides. Mike's was mentioned so off we go. Dad having mobility and breathing problems I parked him next to the door went up for a menu, no menu. Ok not a problem found out what he wanted and ordered. Now the review. The meat was cold and it was a small chunk they had chopping on so I assume it started out a brisket and lucky us we got there after it had been on the chopping block long enough to get cold. The BBQ sauce they drenched the meat in was like vinegar with brown sugar blended in. Should have asked for it on the side I like to taste good smoked meat alone anyway but that's what I got. Couldn't really tell if it was good BBQ with all that nasty sauce. Isn't that one of the main things a good BBQ place tries to achieve is good sauce? The tater salad wasn't bad I'd say average but the beans were pretty good. So if you want good beans go to Mike's and get one of they're foam bowls that's big enough to hold about two shot glasses of beans. That's why they get 1 star because the beans were pretty good. I should mention the plate, 2 sides (again the two shot bowls for the sides) and drink along with my dad's sandwich 2 sides and drink was around $22. Did I mention that sauce was nasty? Oh damn it was bad!

Yes they are a barbeque place and yes they have great barbeque but the catfish and fries are truly the best.
