The Best!!!

One word when describing Tackett's: QUALITY. Yes, it isn't easy getting into them but I think it's just the dude and his wife doing it.

We been to these guys before and really like what they do. BUT WHAT GOOD IS A BUTCHER SHOP IF THEY ARE FULL EVERYTIME WE CALL!!!!!

Double review

I just noticed I reviewed Tackett's a year & a half ago, and just did it again today. Oops:) Well, they've done another elk for me in the mean time,....that just shows how much I like them.

Best in the valley

If you want good meat, field dress & skin your animal ASAP & then use Tackett's to process your meat. They have a hospital-like game processing room that you can observe through big glass windows from their office. I used to use a top-notch meat processor in Emmett until they switched-over to domestic meat only. They recommended Tackett's to me 7 years ago & I've been 100% satisfied ever since. Just make sure you cool the meat ASAP (guts & skin)!!! Nobody can make bad meat good again.

Best job we've ever had

Like the title says, best job we've ever had. Moved out here from back east. Tackett's does things much different.

Great Family Business

I like family owned businesses. The attention to details and dealing with people who care about the job they do is refreshing. We know we are getting our own meat back and they are fast (2 days). Nobody does it better than Tacketts.

Best Processor in Idaho!!!

Shot a rag horn a couple days ago. Took us longer than expected to pack it out. Called Tackett's so see if I could get it into them since it was too warm out to keep it overnight at home. Got the owners cell number off their message machine and he met me at 10:30 at night. I really can't say enough how thankful I am for these people. They are a small family business and obviously care alot about what they are doing. Their place is very clean and a couple of my buddies have used them and the quality is top notch. Thanks Tackett's for what you do!!

Great Quality!!!

We've been using Tackett's for 5 years now. In that time we have never had a bad job from them. Not even so much as one hair in our meat. Can't say the same for the other two processors in the valley that we tried before we found Tackett's. As for the guy below who didn't like how Tackett's talked to them. They don't sugar coat the condition of your animal. We've seen it with others that were dropping off when we were. The owner was telling the guy what he did wrong and the guy wanted to argue about it. Needless to say, the owner of Tackett's put him in his place. Look, Tackett's cares about what you eat and no one that we know of has the quality that these guys have. That is why we keep going back to them. We care about what we eat also and we want to get our own meat back which Tackett's guarantee's. If you want a butcher who tells you what you want to hear and then gives you junk back to eat, Tackett's probably isn't for you. If you want a quality job on your deer or elk, nobody does it better.

Best in the valley

If you want quality processing I strongly recommend Tacketts! I have been going there for years and always have received quality professional processing! All questions have always been explained in detail personally to me and you can even watch them process your game if you care to attend. Happy hunting.

I have been having Tacketts process my game for years and believe they are one of the best big game meat processors in the Valley. If you want quality meat, I suggest using them. If you just want meat off the bone go somewhere else. Quality processing, cuts and packaging. They refuse to process bad or damaged meat so know that going in. Feel free to watch your game being processed thru the window if you have the time. They will gladly explain the process and accommodate your needs! Enjoy! Tacketts is well worth it! Happy hunting!

Best place around

Absolutely love this place. I was wary of bringing my game to any butcher after a few bad experiences with another business.(hair and bone in the meat, poor packaging ect) I had been processing my own animals for a few years because of it. Took a chance last year and I'm glad I did! Meat was vacuumed packed very nicely, very clean and they handled every aspect of the entire process in a very professional manner. My family has since then brought in every animal we take. 3 deer last year and 3 deer and an elk this year. I could not be more satisfied. It's good to have an honest, high quality business like this to rely on. It has made our hunting all the more enjoyable knowing that our game is being handled with the highest standards.

Re: Tackett's, HA should be Racket's!!!! by Sam Iam

I am Rob Tackett, owner of Tackett's Wildgame Processing. I don't normally respond to reviews but feel I have to provide the public with a few forgotten details of Sam Iam's review. Notes from our log book:- Shot in shoulder- Shot in both backstraps- Shot in both hind quarters with bone- Very dirty/hairy- Tenderloins hacked up with gut, not saved- Carcass partially sour/heat/gassed- Very fat- Incoming weight: 145.5 poundsWhen he called us he was very angry about only receiving 50 lbs. of meat back. My wife read him the notes from our log book and he cursed at her and said he was going to turn us into the BBB. At that point, I got on the phone and he proceeded to tell me that, since he was paying me, I had no right to belittle his son. The last thing he said to me (before I hung up on him) was, "see you in court."His son was not at fault in any way. The adult that took his son hunting however has a lot to learn about hunting ethics and how to properly care for an animal once harvested. This is everyone's responsibility and I took this opportunity to communicate this to the son and the adult. I told the adult that if they could not care for the animal any better than they did, they have no business hunting. I handed them some of our paperwork and the son was very receptive, even thanking me for this information. The dad also gave us the impression that if we didn't make it right with him, he would leave us a bad review which he did (all over the net). We will never give in to threats like this. This animal came into our facility in extremely neglected condition and was badly shot up. Getting 50 lbs. of meat back out of a 145.5 lb. carcass is a very real possibility since every part of the animal was shot except one shoulder. But that is not the worst part. The worst part will be when this family sits down to eat what should have been an enjoyable meal of venison. As it is now, they will sit down to eat some very low quality, gamey tasting meat.Folks, this is a good lesson to everyone. It is extremely important to gut your animal within 15 minutes of the kill and to have the skinning complete within the hour (after the heart stops). The quality of your meat depends on this simple but very important step. The longer it takes you to do this, the lower quality your meat becomes.

Tackett's, HA should be Racket's!!!!

Tackett’s , HA should be Rackets! I absolutely would not recommend this Co. to do any service for you. The owner is rude and has a habit of telling 16 year olds that they are a disgrace as a hunter, when it was their first hunt and did not get the perfect second shot on a deer.He claimed the meat was no good, said that the deer was not gutted properly. He then berated my kid. This guy is very unprofessional and UN-friendly. The attitude he gave my son and the things he said to him was just not professional at all. My son was on his first Idaho hunt with his best friend and best friend’s dad (who lives in Idaho). I would not have tolerated this behavior if I had been there nor will I now. I would have told this owner to stuff it and would have driven the Deer back to Nevada to be processed! It was too late the deer was already taken to Tackett’s.When I called to discuss why a 290 pound deer only had 50 pounds of meat the owner stated that it wasn’t gutted properly. The deer was gutted right away and the cavity stuffed with ice! My friend is an avid hunter and knows how to property dress a deer for the butcher! Calling and discussing as to why we got much less meat by far than we should have received, the owner went on defense and that was not my intention. I wanted an answer to a very basic question. All I got was how terrible the deer was and it was my son’s fault. “The deer was drug to long, not gutted properly and on and on, all not true”. You can lie to me over the phone all you want but I know the truth. NEVER EVER again!!!! And by the way …. the people (your regulars) who referred your service will never be coming back to you again. Remember God watches all things!!

Best in the Valley

Notice all the 5 star ratings,.. and they are well-deserved. Easily the best meat processors we've ever used. Had tried more than half a dozen in the area & 5 years ago ended up at the best. We have processed 2 elk & 6 deer through them, and every steak, roast, burger, samali & pepperoni stick has been top-notch.They are particular about the meat they accept, and provide customers with pamphlets on how to get your game from the field to the shop in the best condition. The packaging area is almost hospital room-clean, and you can watch them through a big window in the office area. Do yourself a favor and take good care of your game in the field then have Tackett's do the rest. You won't be dissapointed.

Tackett's saved my meat!!!

I usually have Tackett's cut up my game and have always been happy with the quality of their work. This year I drew an early hunt and shot a nice buck in unit 39. Called them up at 5pm on a Saturday and the owner met me there 30 minutes later. It was 92 degrees out when I called and I needed to get my buck in fast. It can be hard to get into them in October but at least its usually cool out then. The fact that they are open 7 days a week and were able to take my buck on a HOT August day makes them priceless to me.

EXCELLENT MEAT PROCESSING

love the way these people cut meat. I've been to 2 other butchers in the valley and man was this an eye opener. i get my own meat back, vacuum packed, and only took 2 days to get my meat back. The last place i went wanted to give me my burger back in December. i dropped my animal off in October. i must be missing something...why hold my meat for 2 months? What a joke. tackett's does it the right way...the other places are a absolute joke.

Best Game Processing in Idaho!

I really strive to take the best possible care of my wild game in the field, so choosing the perfect game processing facility is crucial to me. Tackett's, by far, is THE best processor you will ever find - anywhere in Idaho! I've always worried; am I getting back the same animal I dropped off; well, you will never have to worry about that if you use Tackett's. The quality of their cuts, packaging, and specialty meats is outstanding, and they are the friendliest staff you will ever meet. If your getting back into town early or late, just call and they'll arrange to meet you; where else have you ever found that service? They're extremely reasonable and their quick turn-around is fantastic. I've used most processors in the Treasure Valley, Challis, and Declo, nobody compares to Tackett's - I will NEVER take my game to another meat processor.

Best In Idaho!!!

We used to have a family friend cut our meat but he passed away and we've been looking for a new place. Tried a couple here in the valley but was NOT impressed. Found hair and dirt in our packages and actually ended up throwing the meat away. Can't prove it but we know we didn't get our own meat back because we clean our meat very meticulously. A friend had told us to try Tackett's before we tried the other two places. We decided not to because 1.) They were more expensive and 2.) They wanted us to get on a waiting list. Now that we've been through the experience with Tackett's, we understand and actually feel a little bit foolish for focusing too much on price and having to wait to get in. You really can't compare Tackett's with the other two places we went. They have them beat in every respect. We told Tackett's about our experience at the other places. The owners response was, "The most expensive meat is the meat you can't eat." SO TRUE!!!

Greatwildgamemeatprocessingandgreatcustomerservice

I have been using Tackett's wildgame processing for the last several years because the promise your own meat upon delivery and great service. The business is family run, professional and very sanitary. I have used other process companies in the past and not been satisifed due to them mixing meat without informing me and the shop being porrly run and maintained. Tackett's also has some of the best pepperoni sticks and sausage and your meat is always prepared very well.

Beyond Professional

I have not had wild game processed in years because I was afraid of what you would get back. Tackett’s is just amazing, they are clean and totally transparent in what they do there because they are not hiding anything. When I received my meat it was visually apparent that they took the extra time to process the meat with care, like it was for them. GREAT small business!!!!!
