I have always thought that pawn shops are shady businesses, loan sharks that prey on the ignorant, poor and unfortunate of society. I think they also increase crime rates - burglaries and thefts because a thief will steal an item and take it to a pawn shop and obtain quick cash. I say, get rid of pawn shops and we'll have an improved society with less crime.Then I read this study and learned I was correct.
