Beware!

I loved Dr. Stingl, very knowledgeable, informative and caring towards his patients. I was his patient for 6 years. The women in the eyeglass department where also great. Unfortunately, the front staff and the woman who does prescriptions are incompetent. In July 2015, Dr. Stingl diagnosed me with Glaucoma and prescribed me with drops. In August 2015 my pressure in my right eye went down from 16 to 13 with a sample package of the drops. Dr. Stingl felt that with the drops I would never have a problem controlling my Glaucoma and may never need surgery. The staff called in my prescription to CVS Pharmacy. When I went to pick up, CVS informed me it was over $300 a month, I told them I have Aetna insurance and they said they called Aetna and Aetna needed the Dr's diagnosis. OK, no problem, I call Dr. Stingl's office explain to the woman over the phone my situation and she said, "We called it into CVS." I said my insurance needs approval I have the number and she transferred me to the prescription line. I have left 2 messages with my name, the Aetna number, my name, my phone number telling them they need to call Aetna so I can get approval for these drops and the recording tells me to give them three days to respond to messages and I never heard back. I check with CVS if Aetna approved and they said no. I called Aetna and they said no one from the Dr's office has called. It is now October 29th. I called the Dr's AGAIN and explained to the SAME women who answers the phone my situation and AGAIN she says "my notes say we called it into CVS, I don't see in my notes that you called and left messages for prescriptions." At this point I ask to speak to the nurse, I tell her I need these drops, she comments to one of the women sitting next to her about the drops and the women says they are only $8. YES, only $8 dollars with insurance but my insurance needs to approve it so someone from the DR's office needs to call it in. She tells me the nurse isn't available, so I say I will hold for Dr. Stingl. She tells me he is with patient and I say I will wait. I am on hold for 10 minutes and then I get disconnected. I decided to drive over there and wait to speak to the Dr. to get him to call them in and then as I thought more about it and the shock wore off I cannot continue to see a Dr. that I have an inability to get a hold of in a difficult situation and how can I face these women who are incompetent. I called Dr. Groom, a very competent Dr., explained to the staff my situation, told them I would pay out of pocket for the eye visit since it hasn't been a year and was informed that insurance will cover a second opinion, and she will make sure I get my drops! I have never had this happen to me where a Dr. prescribes me medication, 3 months go by and I still cannot get the medication. Sad. Very Sad. And I cannot let the Dr. know about the incompetence in his office. Please beware.
