I had an appointment 04-08-2019 for suture removal of a small cyst excised on my L upper eyelid and to discuss the problems I am having with my intra-ocular lenses for mono vision which were implanted following cataract surgery.
When the ophthalmology assistant came in she could find no sutures so I asked if they were perhaps dissolvable...come to find out they were. She had no idea that I was also here to discuss all the problems I was having post lens implants (even though I had called in about the problems and the nurse said she would put it in to be discussed when I came in for the suture removal). The assistant proceeded to type in all the concerns: sensitivity to light, I have to wear sunglasses INSIDE and also while watching TV or computer use. I see the ridges of the lenses on both my right and left eye, I have blurred vision while driving both day and night, I can't see signs until I am right on top them. I told her my eyes were "driving me nuts", between the blurred vision, the floaters in my R eye and my dry eyes.
When Dr. Quigley came into the room, it was quite apparent that he had not looked at my chart. The conversation started out by him asking how my eyelids were...I did not have my eyelids done so I explained it was just a cyst removal from my L upper lid. He then asked what the problem was and I told him I had very blurry vision while driving. His response was that the L eye was for distance and the R eye was for reading (OK...I already know that!!). I then said, once again, that when I cover my right eye I can see really good but that MY VISION IS BLURRY WHEN I DRIVE WHEN I DON'T COVER MY RIGHT EYE!! He then proceeded by saying "Well, I can explain it 10 times" at which time I said, "I understand that the L is for distance and the R is for reading but I was told that the brain would auto adjust to use the L for distance and R for reading and I would not have this problem so he asked me if I wanted 20/20 vision!! Of course I said I did and he told me I would have to wear glasses while driving then and that Medicare would pay for most of the expense, told the assistant to take care of that and walked out of the room!!
Seriously...1st of all, why would I not want 20/20 vision when I'm driving!! It is a HUGE safety issue when things are blurry and I can't even read signs until I am right on top of them!! Also, NO WHERE IN THE LITERATURE I RECEIVED DID IT SAY I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE GLASSES FOR DRIVING...I JUST PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO AVOID WEARING GLASSES!!. He never said if there were any alternatives, he never empathized that this was not going well for me, he treated me like a MORON!! He said twice that the L eye was for distance and the R was for reading...well, DAH...I'm not stupid and then said "Well I can explain it 10 times but" That was the extent of the conversation. That was NO explanation for ANYTHING!! Like I said, he could not have read one concern I had in my chart...he never addressed the ridges on both eyes, he never addressed the sensitivity to light or the fact that my eyes are driving me crazy!! He never addressed the floaters in y R eye or my dry eyes. He spent all of MAYBE 2 minutes with me!! I walked out of the office and did not order any glasses. It is 12:10 pm on 04/09/2019 and I have yet to even receive a call from your office....hmmmmm...a patient walks out of the office without finishing her appointment and I do not get a call or anything.
I will never return to this practice and I will let it be known with all I come in contact with, how poorly Dr. Quigley (the owner no less!!) treated me!! I will be very clear that none of my concerns were addressed and how much I paid to have the outcomes I have.
I will also be contacting an attorney regarding any possible recourse.
