Rod is a crook. Took my boat to him a dozen times for the same problem with no solution, only his tired answer of "its bad gas". Even after I ran the engine (which only had 20 hrs on it) on a tank from my other boat which ran fine, he still tried to tell me it was bad gas. While in his care, or lack thereof he managed to back a trailer into the hull causing gel coat and fiberglass damage. After getting the run around on that he finally admitted it and had one of his illegal aliens work on it. Of course it looked like crap. BEWARE of this guy, he is a crook and does extremely shoddy work. He'll gladly take your money though with his high prices. The day he goes out of business is a good day for the people of Collier county. Go ANYWHERE but to him.

I heard the bad gas line too when I asked why my motor kept acting up after he worked on it. I thought maybe it might have been bad gas, but I ran it on a seperate tank with fresh gas and still had the same problem. I kind of thought he was a little dumb, but shrugged it off. Wish I had seen that post on craigslist sooner wit hthe info directing me here, could have saved myself some headaches and cash. I wouldn't adise taking anything to this guy.

I also had a bad expierience with this place. I took my mako to him for carb service, took 3 trips to get it to stay running and even then it never ran like it did before he touched it. His answer to me was also "bad gas". Must be a lot of bad gas in this town. I never went back to him and I suggest you go to anyone but him in this area. I wouldn't call him a crook, just incompetant and a bit of a dim bulb. Eventually he'll do this to enough people and in this economy he'll fold and go under. Won't help me for the money I gave him for nothing, but he won't get another penny of mine ever again.

Theres no way anyone could be more incompetent then rods marine. He is sadly the only authorized nissan outboard repair guy in naples, so I went to him. he took about $1500 of my hard earned money, never fixed the problem after many many trips to him and all he could say was "it's bad gas". This was of course after a new fuel tank, water seperator, lines, primer bulb etc was put on the boat with of course fresh stabalized fuel. he also damaged my boat by backing into it, which he had repaired in his favor. he then installed trailer bunk support brackets but only on one end and didn't adjust them so they were flush aginst the bottom, so the bottom of the boat was basically on the point of the bunk and this resulted in damage that i had to take care of. I told him about these problems, the fact I still couldn't use my nearly new nissan outboard and all he could reply was "take it elsewhere". He sits in his office while he has some 5.00 hr mexican do all the work. BEWARE OF THIS GUY!!!!!!
