On Thursdays they have songwriters and it draws a lot of really great ones. Come early & plan to stay til it's over. The food is basic bar food, not bad. The atmosphere is very casual, like most places in Nashville. It's a great place to go relax, have a drink & a bite and listen to some of Nashville's best up & coming songwriters.

ok FYI my name is melissa ketchum and im 24 years old and me and my boyfriend went to john a's to have a drink and have a bite.....but as soon as you walk in its like all eyes on me......these folks are so rude ...we walk to the bar to order and the bar tender is already lookin funny at us anyways she takes our i.d and she doesn't even look at them she takes it to the bk and then the manger comes bk with our I.Ds and says we can't serve u...by that time i was so confused because we have real ids and they could c this and we told them that there profiling us which is bs...and the mager was really rude he was like call what u want but we can't serve you....we did nothing wrong we had our ids ....it was just that we weren't 50 year old country bumpkins...its bs and im actually calling in on them....so if ur young and wanna go have a bite and just listen to music don't go to john a's cause they will profile you!!!!

Good place to eat and meet friends. Great band on Saturday nights.
