We purchased our house and one month timeframe to refinish our hardwood floors in about 4 rooms before moving in. Upon our initial meeting Gary stated the floors were old and offered a screen and recoat option. He stated he would strip, stain, and recoat existing floors. It was a good deal because this was half the cost of completely stripping. He asked us to color match the existing stain ahead of time, so we picked up several samples. There was a small section I asked if they could replace because carpet and tiling had been placed overtop years prior. They explained to my wife that they refinish floors and this is a carpenter's job so I guess important for anyone to consider. During the actual work they failed to stain our bedroom it just looked blotchy. When we asked he said the stain didn't "hold", but it was pretty obvious there was no attempt to stain. Two weeks after the job was complete the poly finish began lifting in our bedroom. Again we still had not moved in, so of course we were scrambling to get them back. By the time they were able to come back we were living in the house. I asked them if they remove the poly to stain the floor, he said normally they don't need to stain because the poly will just bring out the colors like it did in the other rooms. I'm not sure why I was ever asked to pick up the stain samples and why he stated the stain didn't "hold" if he never intended to use. They attempted to remove the poly with a floor buffer for about 20 minutes and then told me they didn't have the equipment to strip the floors, which is very odd considering they are a floor company. He told me I could rent a sander at Acme and if I stripped and stained it they would come back and put on the finish. I spent labor day weekend stripping the floors, staining, and I put on the poly. The family left for the weekend. There was no refund offered. My guess is this room had a wax, it was actually pretty obvious once you started sanding but I'm not a flooring expert.

I called Gary’s Floor Sanding last year and found that Gary, the owner and serviceman, came to estimate the job on time, as arranged, and respected my time too. He is professional, very personable, and easy to work with. He determined that not all rooms needed to be sanded, as the upstairs didn’t go through as much traffic and damage as the main floor. This not only saved time, but saved us hard earned money as well. We appreciated his honest evaluation of the job and extra efforts to bring out the beauty of the wood. Gary’s hard work and skills in repairing the floor damage was a work of perfection. We were amazed at the end result and never thought our floor would look this good, especially with the budget we were working with. Gary kept to a schedule for our convenience, was there when he said he would be, and he works only one job at a time. It was our good luck to discover beautiful hardwood floors under all of the carpeting, but the best luck was finding this service.
