Do NOT waste yout time

The good: facilities were decently maintained, the horses seemed well taken care of, and the area as a whole was clean, good quality hay, small family run business.

The BAD: Gopher holes all over premises, fence in arena leaning heavily outward on back side. There is no phone number listed at facility, so you have to communicate via e-mail. They were rude, pushy, continuously suggesting other towns for horse boarding over e-mail. When they finally did send us an e-mail with their flier and prices, the prices were much higher than comparable facilities in Poway or Spring Valley. They also have certain conditions specific to their facility; you must clean your own stalls on the weekends or pay $5 each day you don't, they do not provide feed, water, or muck buckets (we found that out on the "tour"), there is a mandatory $15 tour that you must take prior to discussing specifics on board, if you want to communicate via telephone instead of e-mail, there is a fee each time, and that you pay more if you pay monthly vs. quarterly. Once there, we found out that trailer parking would be $100 each month, they admitted to trying to get us to go away over the e-mails, and that they only had one boarder (a pony). They did offer a military discount in the flier, and did confirm it in person, but when we re-read the flier and saw that Santee residents had a right to negotiate board prices within reason and tried to get the price from $338 (including military discount) to an even $330, they wrote back and said that we would be paying $350, they were not going to give the previously mentioned discount, and that they needed the money in 3 days for the first 3 months, even though our horse would not be there for at least a month, more likely 6 weeks.

Summary: Even though they are polite in person, they will try to do whatever they can to get you to not board there, short of flatly denying you. They offered one price and turned around and tried to raise it for no reason. They are overpriced and I would not put my horse there. If their actions are any indications of their care, if my horse were there and injured, they would do whatever they could to avoid caring for it or informing us. Do NOT waste your time unless you feel like getting blown off constantly by people who admittedly do not know much about horses except that they like to ride.
