Although I was fairly pleased with the results of the cleaning completed by Advance Carpet Restoration, I was equally unhappy with the bait and switch tactics employed. I scheduled the cleaning with ACR based on their quote I received on the phone and confirmed verbally with them. The $49.95 cleaning jumped to $249.95 by the time the cleaners arrived to complete the job.



When I scheduled the cleaning, it was for the 2 bedrooms and 2 flights of stairs that I have in my home. When the cleaner arrived, he claimed that those two flights of steps were more than 2, which added another $50 to the cost. I find that confusing because there are only two floors covered by stairs. There is not a third flight that leads nowhere.



At no time during the quotation period was the question asked of me about what types of carpet I had. When the cleaner arrived and saw berber, there was an immediate upcharge of $60. As I am not a frequent customer of carpet cleaning services, I was unaware that different carpets would require different upcharges. Based on the 15 minutes it took to complete the entire job, it was not apparent that any extra work needed to be done to complete the job.



I paid for the work to be completed, because I needed the job done, but I know for a fact that I would not have accepted the quote from ACR if it included the additional $50 and $60 fees.



Therefore, when you are looking for quotes, be ready with the following information:

a) Exact details on floor plan

b) Type of carpet

c) Do you have pets (they will get you one the pet stain remover, which is a very expensive product according to ACR)



Again, I was happy with the results of the work, but unhappy with the inadequate quotation process.
