Provided by YP.comWhat a nightmare! These movers complained the whole time (as the clock was ticking) about how much I had and how tired they were. They left me with items literally in the driveway so they could go to another job and informed me that they were late already. They removed drawers from my dresser which I found stacked on top of boxes when my truck was unloaded. They were so unprofessional! I was requested to pay in cash...hum?

Provided by YP.comMy moving experience was horrific! I booked Affordable Movers of Alabama a month in advance because I was moving during the peak moving season. I gave them my moving date, but somehow it was written down wrong. I got a phone call from Affordable Movers three weeks before I was set to move because they were in route looking for my location. During the week leading up to my move, I called Affordable Movers to ensure I was booked for my day and change my move my move time up an hour. I was told no problem. Before I booked them, I informed that I was moving from an upstairs apartment to a different apartment complex also located upstairs. I told them I had several boxes, plastic storage tubs, a dining set, living room set and bedroom set (including an armoire). I was again told no problem. On moving day, I called Affordable Movers of Alabama because they were 30 minutes late and I had not from them (I was told they called and my phone went straight to voicemail – but nobody left a message). I was told that the truck was giving them problems and they had to go rent a U-Haul and they would be there in 30 minutes. The 30 minutes passed and then another 20 minutes passed. I called again. They said they had to go a bit further to get a U-Haul and would be there within the hour. So, they showed up, 2 hours late, and began to work. Now, I expect a professional moving company to have proper equipment to handle all moving needs. They had one dolly, which was only used around 4 times. After which they began carrying boxes one by one – talk about running up the clock! Grant it, it was very hot outside which is why I scheduled them to come early in the morning. But, since they were late they had to work during the hottest part of the day. I was asked to go to the store to buy some Gatorade and Peanuts. I did. I kept seeing my items loaded onto the truck then taken back off the truck. I would say, it took 2 ½ hours to load the truck (we’re only talking about a 1 bedroom apartment). I left (with items loaded into my car by Affordable Movers) to go to the new apartment. It took Affordable Movers 2 hours to show up at my new apartment (which was only about 15 minutes MAX away from the old apartment). They said they were stuck in traffic for 30 minutes. I don’t know what they did the other hour and a half. Finally, they arrive and start unloading. They had a third guy join them to unload me. As soon as he brought in his first load (the dolly was never used – everything was carried by hand) he was asked to go the store and get some Gatorade. Everything was set up – maybe took them an hour and a half to unload. I get my bill for 6 ½ hours of labor – ridiculous! I refuted the number of labor hours but the owner was adamant about them working 6 ½ hours. They only took off $30 for their tardiness and left some items at the old apartment. The offer was made to go back afterhours to get the items, but by then I was over it and went and got the items myself. Did I mention they didn’t unload the items from my car? I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone! While they had the lowest rates among the ones I looked into, I feel that I could have saved money by going with an established, reputable company who is well experience (labor hours would have been reduced).
