Provided by YP.comEvery now and again, you come across someone who is not like everyone else. I run an over 3100 email list of like minded people who work on problem dog behaviors modeling solutions shown by National Geographic Channel's "Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan".
Thanks to him I, (a 55 year old college teacher) have been able to re-hab and remove around 42 last chance problem dogs on the euthanizing list. One can see many of those dogs at the www.youtube.com/cjanderson site.
I was inspired to create a rescue dog into a therapy dog after getting to know Gabriel's Angels Therapy dog team work for at risk kids.
I found Author of "All Dogs are Angel Dogs" Eileen Tonick at the Phoenix Parks and Recreation, teaching obedience, agility and therapy dog classes very inexpensively! My partner and I took what once was a food aggressive beagle foster, and a high anxiety greyhound lab (you can see them running on the treadmill without leashes side by side at my youtube site), to do the therapy dog class.
Half way through, the beagle hurt his back at home, and needed to drop out. I replaced him with a female lab rescue. Based on what Eileen had taught to me, I laid the ground work for Junebug to get caught up to the others in a matter of days. Attending the last two weeks of the six week class, she then did her Therapy dog test and passed with 100% Honors!
Since that time, I have converted several other rescued dogs to therapy dogs which others adopted (Buddy Beagle and Marley Greyhound/lab were adopted within a few short weeks).
What was so outstanding, was that Eileen, was able to address the few behavior quirks that I hadn’t caught or had not the skills to change while in class for me to practice!
Eileen also conducts a unique kind of agility class - making it fun for human and dog, rather then repeating the same actions over and over!
Her customer service is also outstanding.
I thought so much of her skills in teaching, communicating, empowering and motivating people to do more for their dogs, that I asked her to teach Canine Safety classes for the National Safety Council.
After an employee was mauled by neighborhood dogs, the city of Phoenix asked National Safety Council to have Eileen do these Canine Safety Awareness classes to their employees.
Her class was voted the "Best Safety Class of the Year"!
The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council has asked her to lead our "Take You Dog to Work Day~ Safely" Campaign for 2010.
You could not find a better, more intuitive and competent trainer/behaviorists to help with problem dog solutions or to make your good dogs into special dogs!
