In a word DON'T

The charge was 200.00 to fill out paperwork. Non-refundable. I was so disturbed by the way I was treated the first day, that I requested a refund of the 200.00, minus the time the attorney spent (20 minutes) with me. During the 20 minutes, I filled out the paperwork, he asked a few questions. He was snide. He stated that I would probably change my mind about the divorce anyway, so the consult was 'free' but the charge was to ensure I didn't waste his time. What? I called the next morning to request a refund, minus the time he spent with me. I was then billed another 25.00, which I refused to pay. I was not allowed to use the restroom when I arrived to the office, being advised by the front desk admin person that it is restricted for 'employee use only'. As a paying client?? I had to walk next door to the pizza place to use the facilities. That should have been my first red flag. The attorney was in a yellowed stained white shirt, didn't look like he'd had a bath in a week. Perhaps the Berg folk prey on the ill-informed and those with few resources. I went to another attorney who completed the entire process for 1/3 of what the Berg Clinic planned to charge for a basic uncontested divorce. And I got to use a clean restroom. Berg Legal Clinic has had a shingle hanging up the neighborhood for a long time, but I wouldn't step foot across their doorstep again for any reason. There are many others in the community who offer a better price, and a better experience.
