The Austin-Travis County EMS department offers a range of prehospital medical rescue services. Established in 1975, the department provides emergency communication, support and homeland security services. The Austin-Travis County EMS department also offers first-aid training for the general public. The department provides a variety of community outreach services. The Austin-Travis County EMS department provides guidance to more than 300 instructors. The department maintains a work force of over 350 employees. The Austin-Travis County EMS department is supported by nearly 30 first-response agencies and teams.
