Bethel Clark was born in Tennessee in 1920, joined the Navy when he was 17, and moved to Washington in the 50's. That's when he started in the automotive industry. His first venture was on Mercer Island at a Richfield Station; from there he moved to Issaquah in 1963 and founded Clark's Towing. Bethel Clark was at the Texaco Station on the corner of Front Street and Highway 10 (before it was called I-90), when there was still an airport, sky divers, barns, and farms in Issaquah. Since then, Clark's Towing has pretty much been a fixture in Issaquah. His Tow Truck Fleet started with just one truck, as many companies do, and slowly expanded to a small fleet of 6-8 trucks. In 1983 Texaco decided they wanted a convenience store and Bethel, with some insight, and/or common sense, purchased the property on 221st Place, and in 1989 we moved the business where we currently are. Bethel had 3 daughters, who at one time or another have helped out in the family business, with driving, book work; landscaping, dispatching or whatever needed doing. He also had 3 grandsons who also have helped out over the years with the business. Bethel Clark passed away in September of 2004, but the families tow company, Clark's Towing is still in business providing service to the Eastside.
