About Us

Back in 2003, Santa Cruz Hydroponics and Organics began as a small store on the west side of Santa Cruz next to a bike shop, long before anyone really knew what hydroponics was. We catered to indoor gardeners and earned a reputation for good service, knowledge and having the right products on-hand. When customers started driving all the way across town, we opened a second store on the east side of Santa Cruz (Soquel), and not long after...one in Felton. Our business seeds were planted, and we were propagating. One of our friends opened a satellite store in Corvallis, OR and it's still going strong.

If you build it they will come! We now have a total of 10 stores: Santa Cruz Hydroponics and Organics on the west side of Santa Cruz as well as the east side, and one in Felton, CA. South Bay Hydroponics and Organics in the Silicon Valley. One in Mountain View and San Jose; Grow Your Own Hydroponics and Garden Supply in San Francisco. Corvallis Hydroponics and Organics in Corvallis, Portland Hydroponics and Organics in Tigard, Chicago Roots in the heart of Chicago Illinois, and Healthy Harvest Hydroponics and Organics in San Luis Obispo, CA.

We are growing fast to keep up with demand. You talk, we listen. Tell us where you want us, and we're there. Our goal has always been to give our customers the BEST POSSIBLE SERVICE and SELECTION in the area. Also, we live by this policy: WE BEAT ANYONE'S PRICE, EVEN ON THE INTERNET.

Highly trained employees at each of our locations are well-versed in the industry and as excited about the products we sell as you are. We don't stand still in the R&D department either. Just because a product claims to be "the best," doesn't necessarily make it true. We continually test and monitor all new and existing products to ensure that your garden is getting what it needs to get the best results possible. You will always get unbiased, honest advice at our stores. It's all about YOU the customer. We treat you the way WE would want to be treated. We listen closely, and answer directly. No hard sell. We believe customers need a one-stop shop where they can purchase all the needed supplies to successfully start or maintain their gardens. We provide a professional, friendly environment where all gardeners, from beginners to experts, using soils or not, can walk away with the information and skills needed to achieve the results they expect.
