Disappointed with our 2013 Elk Hunt. This hunt consisted of me, my brother, and my father. We paid for a 3 on 1 semi-guided hunt. After day 2, our guide got sick. So day 3, day 4 and day 5, we hunted by ourselves. Glenn did not have a backup guide for us. We were confined to the areas of the mountain that we became familiar with the two days prior. We were not comfortable moving elsewhere on our own, which is probably the reason why we paid extra for a guide. I saw elk the first two days with our guide, however, the last three days I saw nothing. This is probably another reason why I paid for a guided hunt. Upon requesting a refund to Glen (as we paid for a guide for 5 days, and received a guide for 2 days), his response was that of offering us a credit toward another trip. Well, in no way would we consider that. I would be hard-pressed to hunt with Glen Phillips again even if he gave me a full credited hunting trip, and paid for my transportation to get there.
In summation, we were not happy with the hunt. Ultimately, this is a business, and we did not get what we paid for. Next time I will pay the minimally greater amount of money to hunt with an established outfitter. I would urge you to do the same, as I would hate to see this happen to anyone else.
