EXCELLENT!!! I called this company for a second opinion and was pleased with their honesty and work ethics. They informed me that my chimney was built up with quite a bit of creosote and they would do what they could to remove the majority of it.(about 85%). They said it would be as safe as any other fireplace and with the use of creosote remover the remaining creosote could be dealt with, with no problem. This is much better than the initial company I called. The following is a review I wrote regarding the first company I called vs. Hearthside:

GET A SECOND OPINION. I called Mid-Valley to come out and clean my chimney. Upon their arrival they examined my chimney and told me that it was too built up with creosote for them to take a chance on cleaning, they would not be held liable if they couldn't remove all of the creosote and we had a chimney fire. I can accept that answer, figuring if they didn't want to do the job that was fine, but they went on to tell me they could fix my problem with two different solutions: #1--To replace my existing cast iron fireplace insert with a new one, and install a pipe in my chimney for between $3,500.00 to $4,000.00. #2--They could clean out my chimney the best they could and install a pipe in my chimney for $2,400.00. It is odd to me that initially they stated they couldn't clean it at all, but for $2400.00 they could make it work. Needless to say I was taken aback by these solutions and the extreme cost to fix this problem, as our fireplace insert is our main heat source. It ruined my whole day/week. I contemplated which way I would address this problem and decided to call another chimney sweep service to get a second opinion. Low and behold, when the second company came out, they cleaned my chimney the best they could, and advised me to use creosote remover to burn in the fire to lessen the amount of creosote left in my fireplace. There was absolutely no mention of needing to replace my original fireplace insert, no mention of needing a pipe installed in my chimney, (since my fireplace is tile lined for burning fires) and no mention of needing to replace my existing fireplace insert. I paid him the fee of $150.00 for the cleaning and even bought a new chimney cap from him and creosote cleaning spray. My total bill was $260.00 vs. what it could have been from Mid-Valley which was between $2400.00 to $4000.00, had I taken Mid-Valley's advice. I feel this was very misleading and would not advise anyone to use this company. GET A SECOND OPINION before using this company!
