In 1977, Independence Recycling, Inc. began its crushing operation with a stationary jaw crusher at an existing dump site in Garfield Heights, Ohio. In its first year of operation, Independence crushed a total of 50,000 tons of material. In the early 1980s, Independence grew geographically outside the Northeast Ohio region to other markets. Independence Recycling’s first job in a new market was Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio. Today, Independence Recycling has 12 portable crushing plants and crushes an average of 50,000 tons per week. Operations for Independence Recycling continue to flourish, as the company now maintains six concrete recycling facilities in Florida and two in Ohio. Independence Recycling crushes concrete, asphalt, and many types of virgin rock such as limestone, sandstone and granite. From several thousand tons to several million tons, Independence Recycling is capable to serve you.
