Earlier this week I used M and W towing from Cookeville TN to perform a simple winch out of a truck that was stuck on a high spot in the road. Two hours from the time we contacted M and W they were finished and that counted driving from Cookeville. They then proceeded to charge me $850. When I asked if they could do any better on the price the driver hung up on me. Just before hanging up on me for the third time he told me that he would no longer accept my payment and was going to tow my truck to cookeville where it would cost me double to get it back. It was some of the most unprofessional behavior I have ever witnessed.
Just this evening I had to call another wrecker. This time for a broke down semi truck in the same area. This time I chose Jeff’s towing from Mcminnville TN. They station their class 5 heavy wrecker in Manchester for ease of access to I24. They sent their truck from Manchester to Spencer which is over an hour drive then spent over an hour getting hooked up in the pouring cold rain. They then towed my truck 4 miles south to my shop where they helped disconnect the trailer then strapped on some portable lights to the back of the truck. They then turned around and towed the truck from the south side of Spencer all the way to Cookeville and dropped the truck at the international dealer for a warranty repair. All of this was done for $1000. Only $150 more than M and W from Cookeville charged for an hours time to perform a simple winch out of my truck off of a high spot in the road. This was a refreshing interaction with a professional tow truck operator who did not try to price gouge.
