There is good reason why Kerr Properties has so many negative online reviews and a "C" rating by the Better Business Bureau.
Owners are not well served by a business model based on extracting as much cash as possible from a constant turnover of tenants rather than professional management practices that attract and retain a stable tenant base.
We rented a Kerr-managed property (sight unseen, per Kerr policy) while we looked for a house to buy in Portland. Our experience echoed those of dozens of other reviewers: not being able to view the property before renting, an implicitly insulting application process, no exit walk-through, and absurd nickel-and-dime charges against our security deposit at move-out after a 41-day tenancy. The house had peeling paint, known mold issues that were not disclosed, and an owner who entered the house illegally during our tenancy.
For owners and tenants alike, dealing with such an unpleasant and unprofessional company is more trouble than it's worth.

Don't rent from Kerr.

Should have known better from the get-go. Kerr Properties would not even let me have a rental application to fill out until I saw the inside of the house. Another one of their million "policies."My boyfriend and I decided to get out of apartment living and find some roommates, so as to have cheap rent. As soon as I saw this 3 bedroom house was less than $1000, I wanted to move in.Here's where the problems began. We had roommates move in and, not knowing any better (we've both only lived with one other roommate before and both were on the lease at the beginning), we did not have them go to Kerr and pay $40 a piece for rental applications and to get on the lease. Without any warning, we received an eviction notice. I called, pleaded, and explained that I didn't know they had to be on the lease. Fortunately, they let the roommates go down and get on the lease.Unfortunately, every time we add or remove a roommate, they charge $100 for their precious time. They also charge eac

Good people!

I have been renting from Kerr properties for 8 years in 2 separate houses. I have always paid my rent on time and taken care of the houses i had rented. Kerr was very nice to me and took care of the minor issues i has risen through the years. i can probably say i have a relationship with the office and maintenance guys there, because they would come through every six months and do a walk through to make sure my rental was up to par(in good functioning order). I wouldn't expect a property management to actually care that much about a tenant who rents there properties. I guess my issue here on city search is that people do not understand the work Kerr has done for them and some people will never be satisfied. Kerr has many different kinds of rental properties available for many different kinds of families and budgets. so the people who say Kerr has dirty run down houses. if you have a chance. visit they're website and see that they have beautiful houses available and ones that are more av
