I've had Jay and sons for two jobs at my house and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. Their work is outstanding, they are the consummate professionals. I've recommended them to a number of friends. In fact, just today I'm recommending them to friends who are remodeling their kitchen and living room, where they have a fireplace. Jay Mace and his sons are indeed first-rate.

I, too, was shocked at the one star and assumed they must be talking of someone else. I had Mace tile do a kitchen "facelift". No cabinets, as they were custom done years ago and in good shape. He installed quartz counter tops, and back splash as well as installed the appliances. He and his crew (his sons, included) were the nicest and most respectable people you could possibly deal with. He encountered a couple of problems that took him extra time and I told him I understood if he needed to adjust his price. He did not charge me one extra penny! They are ethical, honest people and I would recommend them. I also knew a co-worker that remodeled an entire house and he was one of the subs on that job....they had nothing but good to say about him. The first review seems more in line with my experience.

I was about to hire Mace Tile when I saw the one-star review posted here, so I asked for references. Jay came right over with a list of 6 references. The first was someone I knew as a professional designer, so I called her and she said Mace is the BEST in Claremont and has done her tile as well as her clients'. I called 3 more and they all raved about him.



They did a walkin shower, floor and countertop for us and I could not be happier with it. The workers couldn't have been more considerate, polite or conscientious.. The tile work is exemplary. Jay was careful to communicate fully about every stage of the work and make sure I got what I wanted, then he went the extra mile to help me with the problems in an older bathroom. None of the other contractors or tradesmen we've worked with have been this good.



YP should take responsibility to check the source of that one-star review as it is not credible and should be removed.

Shoddy workmanship. Damaged property and didn't report it. Poorly skilled workers left by themselves. When problems pointed out, danced around and made excuses, made cosmetic changes, but problems surfaced later. Job took way too long because workers would leave after a few hours, would skip days. Double charged for some materials. Find someone else.
