Dr. Michael Mijares, MD is a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder, hip and knee arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Mijares joined the Miami Bone & Joint Institute after completing his sports medicine fellowship at the world-renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute. There, he trained under the pioneers of shoulder arthroscopy, Dr. Stephen Snyder, and hip arthroscopy, Dr. Carlos Guanche. He completed his Orthopedic residency training at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. Prior to private practice, he has served as assistant team physician for the Miami Marlins baseball team, Miami Hurricanes football team, Miami Hurricanes’ women’s soccer team and team physician for several local high school football teams. As author of several articles and book chapters on arthroscopy and fracture surgery, he proudly continues to strive for excellence in patient service and stay at the forefront of innovative techniques. A student for life. Dr. Mijares loves family time with his wife and children as well as surfing, triathlon training and spearfishing . He is committed to providing the same compassionate care for his patients as he would his own friends and family.
